Introduction

 

Hey, My name is Zaid Hayat Tiwana, and I'm currently a first year student at the University of Gloucestershire. Throughout the past six months I've gained significant knowledge about filmmaking through this course, which has given me the title of a filmmaker. Through this blog I intend to post about my filmmaking culture module, and summarise what we've been taught over this module. This is a short introduction of myself, the following blogs will be about the content for the assessment of this module.

Producer's responsibility Workshop With Mike Parker

  I had an idea that a producer would oversee all the funds and making sure the movie is completed on time, but this session with Mike Parker on producer responsibility opened my eyes to the possibility of a very successful career in producing.It is believed that the producer is just the finance person But it was made clear during this session that this is untrue. The producer is the one who puts everything together; he is the one who finds out when a movie is going to be made and then selects the crew, which includes the editor, director, DOP, and script writer. Furthermore, it is believed that this is not a particularly creative position; in reality, it couldn't be further from the truth, as the producer not only oversees and directs the picture, but also authorizes any alterations made to the screenplay. Adobe After Affects With Bryan Panks

In this session, Bryan, an animation professor at our university, began by going over the fundamentals of animation and after effects with us. It was very easy for me to get used to the software because I had experience with postproduction and Adobe Premiere Pro. However, because I'm interested in post-production and am editing two films this semester, this session was really helpful to me because I was having trouble creating a credit scene at the end of the films when I was using Media Composer's Titer. But since Bryan and I had that session, I had learned a new method to create credits. Bryan showed us how to use After Effects to create various kinds of animation during this session. He started by teaching us how to load various objects into the edit sequence. Then, using our newly acquired knowledge, we created various objects, allowing ourselves the creative freedom to produce original work. Confidence & Well Being ( Group Dynamics)

This session with Rachel and Lizzie was very important to me since I've always been an introverted learner who has never had the confidence to step up and interact with others, or put another way, take charge. We played several games in this session that were suggested to us by our tutors, Lizzie and Rachel, one of the games we played in class that I vaguely recall helped me socialize with a few classmates was the one where we formed couples and were instructed to follow each other's lead, even though the person in charge kept switching roles a lot. This exercise taught me how to take charge and what it's like to be in charge of someone else's behaviour , and how big of a responsibility it is to be responsible for someone else’s actions as your decisions now impact two lives . Through this exercise, I learned how to respond when someone else is in control and forced myself to venture outside of my comfort zone and take control of how someone else behaved.
