Adobe After Affects With Bryan Panks

In this session, Bryan, an animation professor at our university, began by going over the fundamentals of animation and after effects with us. It was very easy for me to get used to the software because I had experience with postproduction and Adobe Premiere Pro. However, because I'm interested in post-production and am editing two films this semester, this session was really helpful to me because I was having trouble creating a credit scene at the end of the films when I was using Media Composer's Titer. But since Bryan and I had that session, I had learned a new method to create credits. Bryan showed us how to use After Effects to create various kinds of animation during this session. He started by teaching us how to load various objects into the edit sequence. Then, using our newly acquired knowledge, we created various objects, allowing ourselves the creative freedom to produce original work. I created a title for my film "Brides," which I'm editing this semester, using the knowledge I gained. Adobe After effects class room in a book (2024) pp. 238-240. This book helped me a lot to learn more about how to animate texts in order to make them more cinematic.

Some of my peers created much more intriguing things than I did. For example, one of my peers created an explosion and a gunshot to simulate bombing. This answered my query on how CGI was employed to create a realistic look in a lot of movies. Bryan continued the class by showing us how to use After Affects to create something truly original out of any picture. As an example, he used an animated car picture with an animated driving path. This was merely a picture at first, but he was able to create an animated film with the car moving and various effects, like the bushes moving due to air pressure, by utilizing some of the instructions on after effects. It was quite amazing how he was able to create a full animation with just so few commands. Additionally, I was able to comprehend how many movies have used effects like explosions without engaging in any risky activities on set thanks to this lesson. One instance of its application in high-end movies is the heads-up display (HUD) graphics in Tony Stark's Iron Man suit from Iron Man (2008), which was created using after effects. 2. To create the idea that Stark is interacting with the sophisticated technology in the suit, the complex HUD elements were composited onto the live-action video. Another example of after effects being used for award winning films was "everything everywhere all at once". Hogg, T. (2023) ‘THE ART OF BEING EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE’, VFX Voice, 21 March.

I found this session very helpful because I am interested in post-production and am considering it as a career option. It helped me understand more about how many effects that are not possible to add in production can be added in post, and how different mistakes made in production can be corrected using after effects, as this software allows you to make anything out of anything.

Producer's responsibility Workshop With Mike Parker

I had an idea that a producer would oversee all the funds and making sure the movie is completed on time, but this session with Mike Parker on producer responsibility opened my eyes to the possibility of a very successful career in producing. It is believed that the producer is just the finance person But it was made clear during this session that this is untrue. The producer is the one who puts everything together; he is the one who finds out when a movie is going to be made and then selects the crew, which includes the editor, director, DOP, and script writer. Furthermore, it is believed that this is not a particularly creative position; in reality, it couldn't be further from the truth, as the producer not only oversees and directs the picture, but also authorizes any alterations made to the screenplay. Each member of the crew reports to both the producer and their HODs.   Mike Parker, our teacher, made it quite evident that the producer is involved in every face...

Confidence & Well Being ( Group Dynamics)

This session with Rachel and Lizzie was very important to me since I've always been an introverted learner who has never had the confidence to step up and interact with others, or put another way, take charge. We played several games in this session that were suggested to us by our tutors, Lizzie and Rachel, one of the games we played in class that I vaguely recall helped me socialize with a few classmates was the one where we formed couples and were instructed to follow each other's lead, even though the person in charge kept switching roles a lot. This exercise taught me how to take charge and what it's like to be in charge of someone else's behaviour , and how big of a responsibility it is to be responsible for someone else’s actions as your decisions now impact two lives . Through this exercise, I learned how to respond when someone else is in control and forced myself to venture outside of my comfort zone and take control of how someone else behaved. Following this...
