Producer's responsibility Workshop With Mike Parker

I had an idea that a producer would oversee all the funds and making sure the movie is completed on time, but this session with Mike Parker on producer responsibility opened my eyes to the possibility of a very successful career in producing. It is believed that the producer is just the finance person But it was made clear during this session that this is untrue. The producer is the one who puts everything together; he is the one who finds out when a movie is going to be made and then selects the crew, which includes the editor, director, DOP, and script writer. Furthermore, it is believed that this is not a particularly creative position; in reality, it couldn't be further from the truth, as the producer not only oversees and directs the picture, but also authorizes any alterations made to the screenplay. Each member of the crew reports to both the producer and their HODs.

Mike Parker, our teacher, made it quite evident that the producer is involved in every facet of the production. As previously mentioned, I learned that in addition to selecting the entire crew, a producer's primary responsibility during pre-production is to approve the final script to begin shooting. This truly helped me understand how a producer has a creative vision and selects the members of the team to support it. The producer monitors all actions occurring on the shoot during the production phase because, as mandated by the Health and Safety Act of 1947, he is legally obligated to develop health and safety protocols to regulate and limit hazards. After production, one of a producer's primary responsibilities is post-production. During this workshop, I realized that the producer needed to be a great businessman in addition to being a talented filmmaker with an innovative mindset.Lewis, J. (2006) ‘Behind the silver screen: A modern history of Filmmaking PRODUCING’ pp. 16" The producer is the general manager, he takes care of the business, the purchasing, the advertising, the distribution, and the supervision of all departments working on the picture."The producer oversees all the financial aspects of the movie and will ultimately determine how and when it is distributed.

Mike gave us an explanation of the various processes involved in producing, distributing, and showing films to various theaters and online services. Additionally, the workings of various production houses were explained.Additionally, the workings of various production houses were explained. If the platform is business-focused, it is both horizontally and vertically integrated. This means that in addition to owning various production companies—Disney, for example, owns Marvel—it also owns distribution companies and distributes its own films. For example, Disney owns Disney Plus, its own streaming platform, so rather than having distribution agreements with other companies, like Universal Studios, Disney distributes the film itself. This lesson helped me to understand that for a producer to ensure the success of a film, they must possess both a creative attitude and strong financial acumen.

Adobe After Affects With Bryan Panks

In this session, Bryan, an animation professor at our university, began by going over the fundamentals of animation and after effects with us. It was very easy for me to get used to the software because I had experience with postproduction and Adobe Premiere Pro. However, because I'm interested in post-production and am editing two films this semester, this session was really helpful to me because I was having trouble creating a credit scene at the end of the films when I was using Media Composer's Titer. But since Bryan and I had that session, I had learned a new method to create credits. Bryan showed us how to use After Effects to create various kinds of animation during this session. He started by teaching us how to load various objects into the edit sequence. Then, using our newly acquired knowledge, we created various objects, allowing ourselves the creative freedom to produce original work. I created a title for my film "Brides," which I'm editing this semes...

Introduction

Hey, My name is Zaid Hayat Tiwana, and I'm currently a first year student at the University of Gloucestershire. Throughout the past six months I've gained significant knowledge about filmmaking through this course, which has given me the title of a filmmaker. Through this blog I intend to post about my filmmaking culture module, and summarise what we've been taught over this module. This is a short introduction of myself, the following blogs will be about the content for the assessment of this module.
